About GESHE TENZIN DEMCHOK

Geshe Tenzin Demchok joined the Drepung Loseling Monastery in the South Indian state of Karnataka in 1980. In 2002 he started the World Maitreya Karuna Foundation (WMKF) to support the monks and the monastery.

At the Drepung Loseling Monastery Tenzin studied the 5 treatises or Canons of Buddhism for 19 years and received honors of graduation with first position in his class. In 1998 he received the highest Geshe degree called "Lharampa" upon participating in the Monlam Ceremony (testing/debate) before the scholars of the three monastic schools. By being awarded a Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy (Geshe Lharampa), this degree allows him to share his enlightened knowledge with other people

As a Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy he has studied a vast range of Buddhist scriptures principally of the five major subjects called Perfection of Wisdom, Mid Way of Philosophy, Buddhist Metaphysics, Buddhist Epistemology and Buddhist EthicsIn March 2005 Tenzin received his Ngagrampa Degree from Gyuto Tantric University. This is an advance study of four classes of Buddhist Tantra and Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy in Tantra.

From 2006 Tenzin has been working very hard for his non-profit organization the WMKF, of which he is the president. He has traveled to many countries across Asia, Europe and America to attend lots of seminars and teaching about Buddhist philosophy, meditation and tantric breathe.

Tenzin's plans included a fine Buddhist monastery in South India for poor monks who have newly arrived from East Markham in Tibet. The monastery was completed in 2010.

Donations to the WMKF are dedicated to helping the Tibetan monks in a systematic and organised manner.
