The World Maitreya Karuna Foundation Australia (WMKFA) was incorporated as an Australian company (ACN: 139 996 651) on Wednesday 14th October 2009.
The foundation has been established for the purpose of providing relief of poverty, sickness, and suffering to people in Australia. This includes but is not limited to the Tibetan community. As well as supporting these people, some of the money raised by the WMKFA will be used for establishing a base for the foundation in the Byron Bay region of NSW, offering a home for the World Maitreya Karuna Foundation in Australia as well as assisting those who are less fortunate in our society.
The WMKFA also supports poor Tibetan monks from the Dakpa Khangsten Drepung Loseling Monastery near Mundgod in South India. Most of these monks are refugees in India after escaping from their homeland of Tibet. The WMKFA offers the opportunity to 'sponsor a monk' from this monastery for $US25/month.
As with the three main goals of the foundation worldwide, the WMKFA aims to assist people in Australia and overseas through the promotion of world peace; the preservation of different cultures; and helping the poor and oppressed.
